Barragan Boxing Club (1)

In 1991, Carlos Barragan Sr. and Carlos Barragan Jr. formed the Barragan Boxing Club in the backyard of their National City home. The backyard gym quickly became popular with the neighborhood youth. They used the “Sweet Science” to build confidence, instill discipline, and provide a place to keep kids off the streets. The father and son team had received many awards of recognition for their work by media, city and state officials, but the most cherished award is the positive impact boxing has had on the lives of the many participants they have worked with.

In 2011, son David Barragan decided to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and father by providing the sport of boxing not only to the local youth, but also to adults. Thus, the House of Boxing Training Center was born. Since opening their doors, the House of Boxing has grown and become one of San Diego’s PREMIERboxing gyms and has hosted numerous training camps for elite boxers such as Canelo Alvarez, Chris Arreola, Josesito Lopez, Donnie “Ahas” Nietes. It has also hosted training camps for up and coming prospects Antonio Orozco, Carlos Molina, and Oscar Molina.

More importantly, it has become a facility that has made a significant impact on the local communities’ health and lifestyle. Simply put, the House of Boxing’s mission is to help you “Change your life with us!” It isn’t the scientific sum of calories, workouts, and weight that keeps our members coming back. Nor is it the cutting edge equipment and technology. It’s the PEOPLE that count and make this gym HOME.

From the backyard to the House of Boxing, the Barragan Family has always displayed a heart to HELP PEOPLE. Thank you for making the HOUSE your HOME!
